The Federation of Santo Domingo
Like the majority of female monastic families, the monasteries of nuns of the Order of Preachers were grouped into federations, following the recommendation of the apostolic constitution Sponsa Christi, of 23 November 1950, to facilitate fraternal help, with a convenient distribution of offices, the transfer of nuns from one monastery to another due to utility or necessity, the opportune communication of goods and the coordination of work, as well as the promotion of the religious spirit and monastic discipline.
In Spain, the Federation has a total of 26 monasteries in the autonomous communities of Castilla y León, Madrid, Asturias, Galicia, Pais Vasco, La Rioja, Extremadura and Castilla La Mancha.
