Monastery of Santo Domingo in Caleruega, Spain

Welcome

The life of the Dominican nuns, far from being an isolated reality within the Order of Preachers, is above all a maturely considered complementarity of being and doing.

Our Mission

Our mission from the charism of Dominican contemplative nuns is to make the Church fruitful by our way of life, consecrated to Christ in prayer, praising the Lord and interceding for our fellow men, being also assiduous in study, scrutinising with an ardent heart the word of God, so that it may be fruitful and may be nourishment for others.

About us

Dominicans nuns are a branch of the Order of Preachers dedicated to the contemplative life.

Common Life

Community life is so strong in the living out of the Dominican charism that in the early days of the Order, St. Dominic asked the promise of common life and obedience. Therefore, community life is one of the strongest points of the followers of St. Dominic.

Prayer

The life of every Dominican is totally enveloped in liturgical prayer, in which the mystery of salvation is realised in the present, especially in the Eucharist.

Work

Work in a monastic community is not a burden, but a response to consecration; it is a means of balance to preserve the health of soul and body, and in this way we cooperate in the work of the Redeemer.

Dominic always looked at the positive side of the relationship, he removed prejudices from community life, he launched himself into the adventure of sharing the gift of existence with the brothers and in this adventure he enrolled all his followers who today continue to see community life as the best form of personal fulfilment.

In Dominican life, everything is agreed upon by the sisters who make up this community.
