What we do

We have a cloistered, contemplative life, entirely consecrated to Christ in the Dominican charism with the mission of preaching, praying for the humanity and studying the Gospel. As a contemplative institute, we spend most of our time in private and communal prayer for others, meditation, study and silent work in our home bakery.
We combine this monastic community lifestyle of contemplation and prayer with the maintenance and care of the house where St. Dominic was born in Caleruega. We are also committed to welcoming and assisting all visitors (religious and non-religious) to this house, especially those who come for advice or spiritual support.
This monastery houses a museum with religious art and historical exhibits, which is managed by the local and regional authorities, but we also dedicate time to its maintenance and cleaning.
Our pastries and cakes
To cover our basic expenses, we make handmade pastries in our own bakery and sell them to visitors to our monastery. They are handmade pastries that rescue some centuries-old recipes and are made with 100% natural ingredients, of high quality, without preservatives or artificial additives.
Faithful to a tradition that goes back centuries and with authentically homemade recipes, we make these exquisite sweets by hand and with a lot of love so that they can be taken away and enjoyed.
Our artisan pastries
We make different varieties of pastries:
- mantecados al jerez or aniseed ones
- the classic almond pastries,
- perronillas for cinnamon lovers,
- orange pastries for a little variety
- cream patries to be sure to hit the spot
- and alfonsinas if you have to watch your cholesterol

You can also enjoy our bags of cupcakes, our tortas or rosquillas for a delicious breakfast or order a cake to celebrate your next birthday.
